HIPS, also known as impact resistant polystyrene, is a plastic developed to reduce the cost of using ABS. It is polymerized by adding butadiene rubber to general-purpose polystyrene (GPPS). HIPS engineering plastic presents milky white opaque particles with a density of 1.05g/cm3, a melting temperature of 150-180 ℃, and a thermal decomposition temperature of 300C. It is soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, ketones (excluding ketones), and esters, and can withstand many mineral oils, organic acids, bases, salts, lower alcohols, and their aqueous solutions
